Applewood School Horses

Applewood Farm always has a number of well-trained school horses in residence, available for lessons. Many of the horses have been competed or are currently competing at levels from Training through Prix St. Georges in Dressage, and Beginner Novice through Training in Eventing.  Applewood’s current roster of school horses includes:

Brief Encounter “Dream”

“Dream” really is a dressage rider’s dream of a schoolmaster.  With Marilyn as her partner, the 2001 Danish Warmblood mare competed through Fourth Level and won several championships.  Dream is a gifted teacher of the upper level movements, and gives students the experience of competing in Dressage.  She was shown successfully in 2020 by an amateur at Third Level.

Maestro

Maestro is a 2017 KWPN gelding who has a terrific attitude, is very quiet, comfortable, has a great attitude, and is a real joy to ride.  He’s schooling first level dressage and has started over fences, and is a confident and willing jumper both in show jumping and cross country.

Travis

Travis is a 15.2h chestnut horse, owned by Barbara Donovan.  He’s a fun horse to ride on the flat and over fences, and competed successfully at the Beginner Novice level in 2020.

Premier Jet “Jet”

This 2004 TB/Percheron mare is owned by Marilyn and has evented successfully through Novice level.  Jet is a willing, confident jumper.  She is very competitive in dressage, and ended her season by winning the Training Level Amateur Rider ESDCTA Championship.   Her calm, tolerant attitude is a big plus for riders who are learning to event, or preparing to move up.

Double Entendre “Pun”

Pun is a 2010 RSPI.  Marilyn has successfully competed him through Training level Eventing, and Third level Dressage.  He is a great horse to learn on due to his extensive training and competition background.
