Are you a motivated rider looking to immerse yourself in high-level dressage and eventing? Applewood Farm offers part-time working student positions with the rare opportunity to train directly with an Olympic-level judge and trainer, ride steady schoolmasters, and help develop talented young horses. Basic level of horse experience preferred.
You’ll be part of a supportive, professional training environment and have access to:
Lessons on quality schoolmasters, including longe-line lessons to deepen your seat and improve your position
Supervised instruction while warming up, schooling, and handling young horses and horses in training
Opportunities to compete in dressage and/or eventing (showing experience can be tailored to your goals)
Varied riding experience on a range of horses at different stages of training
Participation in on-farm clinics and shows held at Applewood
A friendly, team-oriented barn culture focused on learning, kindness, and professionalism
Additional income opportunities through grooming, clipping, and braiding boarders’ horses
Depending on your experience and ability, your work may include:
Exercising and schooling horses
Longeing and handling young horses
Warming up and cooling out horses
Tacking up and untacking
Trail riding and conditioning
Grooming and cleaning tack
Feeding, turnout, and routine barn chores
Basic office and computer work
Assisting with overall barn management

Part-Time Working Student
Flexible hours and days, single, half-day and afternoon slots.
Compensation based on the number of hours worked
The most important qualities are dedication, reliability, and a strong desire to learn.
Additional (helpful but not required) skills include:
Solid riding ability
Experience longeing
Confidence handling horses of all ages and temperaments
