Welcome to Marilyn Payne’s website! Marilyn is a distinguished trainer, competitor, judge and breeder of horses for eventing and dressage. A member of the Ground Jury for the Three-Day Event at the Hong Kong Olympics in 2008, she was President of the Ground Jury at the World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky in 2010.
In 2012, Marilyn officiated in Australia; in 2013, she was President of the Ground Jury at the European Eventing Championships in Malmo, Sweden, and at the Central American Games in Costa Rica. In 2014, she will be officiating all over the USA at FEI-level events, from California to Florida, and Michigan to Montana to North Carolina. She will also teach a seminar for FEI Eventing Officials in South America, and a training program for Dressage Judges here at home.
Marilyn works with all levels of riders, and is well known for bringing the average horse and rider to their full potential. Applewood Farm is a lively community where riders participate in clinics, schooling shows, and lessons, plus sharing good times in the barn or out hacking.
Marilyn continues to serve as chairman of the U.S. Eventing Association’s Young Event Horse (YEH) Task Force. She has been instrumental in training judges, improving the scoring sheets, and spreading the word among breeders and competitors about this unique competition. Under her leadership the YEH program is growing by leaps and bounds.
Thank you for spending time here, and getting to know Marilyn and Applewood.
